Abstract

A well-managed livestock farm needs an abundance of high-quality pasture continuously available from early in the spring until late in the fall. One good pasture is not enough; a planned system of pastures should be worked out to fit each farm. Bluegrass pasture normally supplies an abundance of feed during May and June and again for a short time in the fall. A good pasture program in Iowa should supply an abundance of high-quality feed for 6 months during the year.
