Farm Outlook

The immediate outlook is bright. A record number of people are working in non-farm salariedjobs. Industrial output is near a postwar peak-total industrial output for the first 5 months of 1948 was up 2 percent from last year. The construction industry is booming! Estimates are that spending for new houses and factories will be up a fifth from 1947. Business and industry are spending at record rates for equipment, too.
